march

march was good, but with one exception.

still a little cold, but definitely starting to get a few good days.
downtown warrensburg does a charitable
ladies night event and this year was luau theme.
it was fun because kassie came down for it and it's
always nice to get out of the house for a night and
hang with the girls.
(i might have had toooooooooo much... fun)

brette finished up her basketball season and she loved it.
i know she'll want to play again next year.
ronnie hooked her up with a basketball goal down at the
shop, so she can play around anytime she wants.
(still unable to get the ball to the basket though, lol)

margie came down for a visit, which is always amazing.
she brought her kiddos and i took off
work so we could hang at shannon's.
reid ended up being SUPER sick - like more sick
than i've ever seen.
she was throwing up all. the. time.
i still managed to see margie, but i spent the rest of the
weekend taking care of poor reid.

we've met some new friends too.
ronnie started hanging out with a new friend,
and he has boys around our girls age.
they've hit it off big time and they've liked playing together.

and now for the bad news.
we lost little louie this month.
he was having such a hard time breathing and
it got really bad.
it was constant and i felt by keeping him alive,
we were actually slowly letting him suffocate.
ronnie couldn't do it.
i took him to the vet and the vet told me that i really
needed to consider quality of life and if this was
what i wanted for louie.
obviously not.
i took him back home and got ronnie and the girls.
we fed him eggs and bacon and then went back to the vet.
it was very peaceful and we loved on him and talk to him the whole time.
it's still very sad - i loved our little tater hog and
i feel guilty for being the one to push us to do this,
but i do think it was for the best.
the girls are brutal because they don't really get it
so they just talk about it all the time.
plus, they get confused about him being in heaven,
when they helped us bury him in the back yard, so
we have to explain it over and over.
ronnie and i had him for 10 years.
he was grumpy at night, slept all the time, did
spin moves when you were getting out his food.
he loved car rides and a licking ronnie's nose.
he slept with us every night above our heads and never
learned how to jump on or off furniture.
here's to you, bubba. 2008-2019

february

we spent most of our weekends in february
FINALLY finishing the master shower.
it took longer than i thought it would,
which is no surprise because ronnie takes longer
than i think doing almost everything.
the glass company came today and put the door on.
i LOVE the look of a frame-less shower door.
it looks so clean.
i have to wait one more day and i can shower in it.
ronnie did some final paint touch-ups and caulking, but
in 24 hours, you better believe, that's where i'll be.

and can i just remind you what this piece of shit used to look like?

i know. i love it too.

we also spent most of february fighting snow and sickness.
the   s  n  o  w .
i hate it so much and it won't stop.
i don't think the kids have had school on a wednesday
in four week and i haven't worked a full
week in a month.
we keep getting ice and snow to where i can't drive to work
or the kids don't have school.
thank god my work is understanding, but i feel super bad
to be working from home so much.
and then last weekend a bug hit our house.
brette went down first.
then reid.
and finally ronnie.
he's still fighting it, but the girls are finally feeling better.
i had to take brette in and get antibiotics because she
wasn't getting better.

we did manage to get out and have some fun too.
my grandma's birthday was this month, so we had a
little family luncheon to celebrate.

my parents were watching madeline and eden so
they asked if they could have brette and reid too for
a big sleepover.

they don't even have to ask.
OF COURSE they can take the girls for the night.
ronnie and i went to dinner with some friends (about an hour away) for
some prime rib (although i ordered shrimp and it was amazing).
then we went to a little country bar - which i loved - and
met up with more friends.
it was a fun night.
then this weekend we had tickets to eric church.
i had seen him before and loved him so
i was excited to go.
we both agreed he puts on an amazing concert and
if you're a country music fan - i would recommend him.

and that's basically february.
i'm hoping for a warm front to come through
and heat things up around here.
i think its 3 degrees outside right now.
maybe by the end of march we'll have some
green grass and budding trees.
fingers crossed.

january

sooo, i accidentally went all month without blogging.
we spent new years even in bed.
it sucked and i hated it.
there's something about sending nye at home that's
a bit depressing and made me feel old.
on january 2nd, i started the 21 day fix diet
with a group of girls.
it turned out to be a great start to a healthy year.
if you haven't heard of it, i'd totally recommend it.
my biggest suggestion: download the app.
you can buy the containers at walmart and
i google searched the work outs on you tube.

i also had a fun night out with my girlfriends at
a fundraiser for the local hospital.
it's was a vegas theme: fire and ice.
there was lots of sparkle and it was fun to dress up.

brette started basketball.
i know.
i was shocked too when she agreed to play.
she is LOVING it and she sucks.
lol.
i realized after watching her first practice that she
has never actually touched a basketball.
i bought her one the next week and she is constantly
dribbling it around the house.
she doesn't have enough strength to get the ball
to the hoop, but its a lot of fun to watch her play.

ronnie is tiling the master shower.
FINALLY.
he's taking forever. literally forever.
but i am excited to see it at least get started.
i told him i'd like to take a shower in my own
bathroom for valentine's day, but i know
he's never going to make that deadline.
i think a more realistic goal would be march.
it's annoying but i'm trying not to complain.

reid is crazy.
she screams a lot and cries over everything.
she also has a flair for the dramatics because
she'll run down the hallway screaming and slam her door.
i think its a good glimpse of our life in 10 years.
she most happy when i promise her she'll see mimi and papa
and literlly hit me one day at her school when i picked her up
instead of papa.
it's a bit ridiculous and i'm hoping the closer we get to 4 years
old the further apart her melt downs will be.
right now, i'd love to just go one day.

that's basically all that's going on.
lots of snow and lots of football watch parties.
i think all of KC is still a little heartbroken about the chiefs.

but here we go into february!

most wonderful time of the year

christmas celebrations have been going on for 6 weeks.
lets just say, this christmas season feels like eternity.
it's good, because i love this time of year, but i also
feel like i've been going and going and going.
my company has THREE different holidays parties.
the first for our trades, the second for our team and
the third for our department.

i also had our annual christmas breakfast with my besties.
it was switched to my house but ended
up being really low key and fun.
i'm so glad we do it.
any excuse to see my friends, is fine by me.

i drove to st. louis for a one-nighter to see my sorority sisters.
its been a long time and miss hanging out with them.
shan and i are the only ones in kc so they get together and
we miss out on a lot.
it's one of my resolutions to make the time more often.

my family had our famous christmas cookie day,
which technically is more of a christmas candy day
because everyone's cookies are already made.
since this holiday is with the in-laws, we went ahead
and did our christmas that night.
can i just say that reid is the best thing that's ever
happened to christmas.
she jumps around and is so excited over literally everything.
you could give her socks and she would be like,
oh my god, i got the cutest socks.
plus she's just super sweet and gave everyone hugs.

christmas day was very low key this year.
just ronnie and i with the girls.
my parent's were in texas with the turner side,
brian was with kristine's family
and my aunt's and grandma went to marceline.
ronnie's sister decided against celebrating this year and
we actually leave tomorrow to see his mom.
we're doing christmas with my parent's and brian on new year's day.
so like i said... christmas is lasting an eternity.
it was weird to be by ourselves on christmas.
it was ok, but not my favorite.
i can't wait for big family christmas next year.
just call me clark griswald.
i will say that we made the most of it.
we made sugar cookies with marra.
we went to see santa and visit the magic tree.
we also made it to christmas eve mass.
ronnie and i were up to 11 wrapping gifts and
the girls slept together in brette's room.
they were up at least three times and checking on noises.
it was very cute.
reid woke up at 4:15 (not kidding) but i threw her in bed
with ronnie and i went and slept with brette.
it worked because they both slept in until a little after 7.
a huge christmas morning win.
they had so much fun opening gifts.
santa brought them a barbie dream house and a kindle.
(which brette calls an ipad - i let her think that. lol)
they spent the day playing, watching christmas movies and eating
popcorn and hot chocolate.
i was pretty proud of myself for dinner.
since it was just us and lets be honest, the girls
eat less than a mouse, i went ahead and tried to make a better meal.
rotisserie chicken, twice baked potatoes, broccoli & cauliflower casserole with rolls.
i made a pie the day before, but i gave it to ronnie's sisters family.
we settled for christmas candy and left over sugar cookies we made for santa.

i hope you and yours had a very merry christmas too.
think of me in a week when i'm STILL celebrating.
