the luck of the irish

st. patty's day is tomorrow,
but my celebration was last saturday
when lee's summit had their annual emerald isle parade and pubcrawl.
it's one of my favorite days in the summit and our fourth year to participate.

this year, our usual partners (linds, kass, tunbow and chris) joined us along with a handful of other peeps ready to get down. and so we did.

and that is why i forgot to shoot a pic of my outfit for barney's wedding
and this is also why kass and chris were stranded on my deck, locked out and drunk.
cheers!

married off

barney got married last weekend and shan and i were there to celebrate.
now, mrs. enright has found mr. [en]right.
her wedding was small and private,
but the reception was a party for everyone.
lots of food, cupcakes and drinks.
plus she had a photobooth for all the guests to snap pics.
we had a great time, but had to skip out early because kass and chris were waiting on our front porch locked out of our house. (more on that later).
but i'm glad i went and got to see the beautiful bride.

(different floating flowers in vases with tea light candles and flower petals)

(the bride with her old roomies minus margie)

what did i wear?
i forgot to snap a photo before i left,
but i borrowed a dress from kass and went from there:

(black peter pan collared dress with sheer sleeves)

(cranberry maryjanes)

(fishnets)
(with cranberry nails and lips.)

what we really need now is my usual mirror shot... sorry!
but it was a nice evening out - congrats barney!

read 'em and weep

i just ordered two books off amazon and together they cost less than $10 - - AND one of them is a hardback.  i freaking love the internet.
both of these books are memoirs.
one funny and one, not.

about the book (found here)

Matt and Liz Logelin were high school sweethearts. After years of long-distance dating, the pair finally settled together in Los Angeles, and they had it all: a perfect marriage, a gorgeous new home, and a baby girl on the way. Liz’s pregnancy was rocky, but they welcomed Madeline, beautiful and healthy, into the world on March 24, 2008.
Just twenty-seven hours later, Liz suffered a pulmonary embolism and died instantly, without ever holding the daughter whose arrival she had so eagerly awaited. Though confronted with devastating grief and the responsibilities of a new and single father, Matt did not surrender to devastation; he chose to keep moving forward– to make a life for Maddy.
follow matt's blog... i do.

about the book (found here)
In this raucous collection of true-life stories, actress and comedian Chelsea Handler recounts her time spent in the social trenches with that wild, strange, irresistible, and often gratifying beast: the one-night stand.

i thought after maddy's story, i might need chelsea to lighten the mood.
anyone read these?
love?
hated?
is another one of chelsea's books better?

can i keep it?

brian and jaime (my bro and sister-n-law) moved out of their first home
to build their next [bigger] home to help accommodate their growing family
this will also put them about 10 minutes away from me
and sets me up with a prime location for babysitting.
hello, miss madeline [and future baby].

speaking of prime location...
our basement is currently storing a few of their boxes
and small pieces of furniture while they wait for their house.
we put most of it in our workshop or basement bedroom.
tonight, we finally unloaded the last truckload.
[thank you, turnbow. my arms didn't have the strength]
and now i want to keep a few items.
they just look so nice.  so perfect. so out of our budget.

(white pedestal table - crate and barrel)

(tv and tv stand)

i have also informed ronnie that these are now items
on our "things to save for" list.

dig through it

i went to warrensburg's other gem on pine street:
those were the days.
a three story flea market.
i went for one specific thing.
old window panes.
so i could do this on my basement wall:

but dang it, they had no window panes.
blah.
so instead, i brought home these candelabras ($30) for my mantle.
[haven't bought the candles yet]

this little guy ($5), which i plan on spray painting.

and my favorite,
this rustic toolbox ($15)
[for a grand total of $50]

i decided it would be an amazing centerpiece for my dining room table.
the plan:
fill it with springtime flowers.
i can't wait.
here are some examples i found online.

pretty, right?
i think it will be gorgeous.

first, to the the marina grog and galley on lake lotawana
for a celebratory dinner for lindsay and her new job.

we loved the marina and plan to go back this summer
so we can sit outside and enjoy the lake.

and then the next weekend we made it downtown lee's summit
for a few beers with kassie and chris.

where ronnie tried on chris's glasses
