black is back

i just got home from another interview.
one phone interview and one face to face interview already done.
she let me know that there would be two more before i would
get offered the job.
FOUR interviews?
cheese and rice.

but hey - i guess i got to do what i got to do.

i wore a cream lace blouse - lily white

mary jane pumps - target
black front panelled pencil skirt and a blazer - new york & co.

black is back, baby.
and hopefully, i'll be sharing another outfit with you real soon.

just swipe it

ordinary halloween lights?
no. no. no.
this is something bigger.  something huge.
i'd like to introduce you to my first purchase with my first ever credit card.
do you feel the power?
i'm twenty-eight and someone finally thinks i'm responsible enough.
(insert fist-pump here)
ronnie had to give me the "do not go crazy" talk.
well, duh.
too bad my first purchase wasn't something more necessary, like groceries or gas.
oh well, to me, halloween lights are pretty important too.

this all started because my debit card numbers were stolen.
it was a huge bummer.
some punk-kid (yes, i'm old enough to say that) bought a bunch of iTunes with my card - - without even having my card.  wtf. we had to go through Apple and then my bank to get all the money back.  it was a pain, so we decided that it might be better to do all our shopping on credit and then pay it off every month. that way, if someone ever got my card number again, it wouldn't come directly out of my account.
i'm sure in the wrong hands this might be an easy way to fall into debt, but i promised ronnie to be extra mindful of my spending until we get into a routine with this.

so far. so good.
...right?

playdate

my bff from college had her baby boy in september and a month later, i finally got to meet him.  we had a playdate at shan's house yesterday so crosby and graham could become fast friends.

me and crosby

crosby - the newest kid on the block.

but we had all the other kiddos there too.
miss reese

mr. mason

graham-man

crosby and graham "meeting" each other.

you might remember i took a similar picture of their bumps. this is the "after" pic.

i can't believe my two roomies have babies.

mondays are not so bad when they're spent like this.
thanks for the visit margie.  can't wait until next time.

ghostbusters

we had an amazing weekend.  we once again traveled to marceline, mo for family fun day - fall festival style.  i have lots of pictures, but they're not edited yet... i will share soon.
yesterday, once we got home, i decided that it was time to make a few of my ghost luminaries. (an idea i picked up off pinterest.) i only have six done, but i plan on at least doubling that so i can put them down the sides of my driveway.

i cut a little butt flap to insert the candle.

one problem. i think the flame might melt the milk carton.  i need to use christmas lights, but then i don't know how to set them up down my driveway.
hmmmmm.

oprah's legacy

everyone knows all the great things oprah has done.  but let's be honest.  her real gift to society? a little thing i like to call "oprah arms."  if you're a female - you've heard of them.
they are my worst nightmare.
in fact, a couple months ago i sent out this email to my friends:

love you girls!  you know i have no butt and i would insert oprah arms, but it just doesn't sound rightyou get the point.
Pinned Image
see?  i am aware of my flaws.
and i can even joke about them.
but apparently so can ronnie.
this was his birthday card to me this year.
how darling.

date night

ronnie and i had the most perfect date night on friday.
we went to dinner and then to a drive-in movie.
growing up my aunt and uncle took my brother and i to a drive-in every summer.  we would pile in the back of the truck - normally with chinese food and couch pillows - and stay up real late watching a double feature.  it turned into one of my favorite things to do. ever.
now, what i makes me real happy about it is that i get to include my babies on our night out.

but first what i wore:

i wanted to share because my purple jeans from forever 21 are heaven.  they feel like sweat pants, they're that soft.

after dinner we went home, grabbed our puppies and sweatshirts, and headed out.  we took 5 pillows, 2 comforters and a blanket.

we ended up seeing this movie.
which i wouldn't recommend.  it was weird.
even though ryan gosling can make up for it.
meow.

heading home with puppies in tow.
a date night success!

paint? check.

this is not the big reveal like on hgtv.
in fact, this might be a huge let down.
once i started looking through my photos, i realized that with mauve carpeting and no furniture, the basement actually still looked like hell.
but we're a couple steps closer to done and that makes me happy.

before:

after:

i don't know if you can tell, but we went from cream walls to a light gray and the wood work was all painted white.

the mauve carpeting still really throws things off and makes it look bad, but no fear we went to lowe's last night and picked out several replacement options.

we took home several kinds and
decided on two different samples.
one for the basement and another for the bedrooms upstairs.
wahoo - we're ordering it this week!
